Description: CAMTC Cert #: 11176
Years in Practice: 15
With the understanding that people are more than just physical beings, I acknowledge that my work very well may facilitate healing on mental and emotional levels also. My continual quest for knowledge and student approach to each session give rise to a more therapeutic style of bodywork. With the addition of eastern medicine principles, there are now even more tools available in my skill set to facilitate health. Though, fundamentally, people essentially have the same parts, often there are subtle intricate details that set each person apart and thereby prompt each session to move in a slightly different direction. My ability to identify and effectively address these details is crucial in the success of my efforts to help each person advance in their healing process!
As an athlete, I understand the physical taxation that the body can sustain and, in reflecting upon my own experience, I aim to allow for the highest level of performance with my work. Each session is used to systematically address the areas of the body that are anticipated to be heavily stressed in conjunction with those that surface through information shared before I begin working as a result of an athlete's participation in their respective sport. Apart from a growing practice, my schedule primarily rounded out by basketball, yoga and the occasional heart to heart with nature. My past experience with sports includes ballet, gymnastics, crew, football, martial arts and track & field. This experience has equipped me with the physical stamina, patience, and drive to work intensely and intuitively. Experiencing the physical, mental and emotional rigors of sports firsthand lend me irreplaceable insight as to the condition of athletes in search of customized bodywork that corresponds with the wear on their bodies.
In my travels around the world, I have been afforded the opportunity to experience cultural elements that play a significant role in how one might view and approach health. Time spent in Europe and Asia, in particular, has enriched my awareness and appreciation of cultures and a wide variety of personalities across a wide spectrum of socioeconomic classes. This exposure has certainly been a useful tool in terms of considering and interpreting the goals and values of potential recipients of my work.
I predominately serve West Los Angeles and adjacent communities (particularly Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Century City, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista and Rancho Park), as well as, Culver City, Santa Monica and West Hollywood while still maintaining a healthy following in San Diego and various communities along the way (i.e.: Costa Mesa, Laguna Niguel, Huntington Beach, San Clemente, Vista...). Southern California superseded Atlanta, GA in its appeal to the point of relocation in 2008 after graduating from one of the most prestigious bodywork schools in the nation, Atlanta School of Massage. Additional academic accomplishments include a Master's of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor's College in Santa Monica, CA and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Evansville in Indiana with a year of study abroad at La Universidad de Alicante in Spain. I am currently continuing to explore the depths of eastern medicine through a fellowship program (also at Emperor's College) with interest in better understanding the physical manifestation of mental and emotional stress.
